Hamraz is a fashion retail project developed around a bold and unconventional concept that reinterprets Iranian cultural identity for a new generation. Designed for Generation Z, the project explores how contemporary retail spaces can create meaningful connections between heritage and modern lifestyles.
Located within a 140-square-meter space, the project sought to establish a distinctive brand environment that would resonate with younger audiences while celebrating familiar elements of Iranian collective memory.
Design Challenge
The primary challenge was to create a seamless dialogue between two seemingly contrasting worlds: the urban street culture of the West and the nostalgic character of Iranian neighborhoods from the 1960s and 1970s.
Rather than treating these references as separate influences, the design aimed to merge them into a cohesive spatial experience that reflects both cultural roots and contemporary aspirations.
Design Concept
The concept was realized through a bold combination of materials, textures, and visual references. Industrial metal surfaces and container-inspired partitions introduced a raw and contemporary character, while traditional Iranian elements provided familiarity and emotional depth.
The brand’s signature orange color was strategically integrated throughout the space, reinforcing visual identity and creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the energy of the target audience.
Materiality & Spatial Experience
A carefully curated contrast between materials and architectural elements defines the project:
• Industrial metal finishes inspired by contemporary street culture.
• Container-like volumes used as functional and visual dividers.
• Traditional Iranian bathhouse tiles integrated into the design language.
• Nostalgic market-style shutters reinterpreted within a modern retail setting.
• Contemporary lighting systems that enhance depth, movement, and visual engagement.
These elements work together to create a layered environment where past and present coexist naturally.
Outcome
The final result is a retail experience that goes beyond conventional shopping environments. By combining memories of childhood games, familiar urban textures, and contemporary design aesthetics, the project creates an emotional connection between Generation Z and their cultural heritage.
Hamraz represents a space where identity, nostalgia, and modern fashion culture intersect—offering visitors a unique brand experience that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in place.
