Project Overview

The Opal Branch was designed and executed as a fast-track retail project for Mashhad Leather, completed within a 20-day schedule. Occupying an 85-square-meter footprint, the project required a design approach capable of addressing complex technical constraints while preserving a coherent architectural identity.

The primary focus was to transform spatial limitations into design opportunities, creating a retail environment that feels visually unified, functional, and comfortable for both customers and staff.

Design Challenge

One of the project's most significant challenges was the presence of an elevator shaft above part of the retail area, resulting in substantial ceiling height variations throughout the space.

Without careful intervention, these level changes had the potential to create visual fragmentation and disrupt the overall perception of the store. The design therefore centered on developing a ceiling strategy capable of integrating these differences into a cohesive architectural composition.

Ceiling Design Strategy

The ceiling was conceived as a unifying element that organizes both technical and visual components of the project.

Particular attention was given to:

• Managing variations in ceiling height.

• Integrating mechanical and ventilation systems.

• Coordinating fire protection and safety requirements.

• Maintaining a clean and consistent visual language throughout the space.

By carefully incorporating these technical elements into the architectural design, the project achieves a balanced and uninterrupted spatial experience.

Lighting & Acoustic Design

Lighting was designed in close coordination with the ceiling architecture to enhance spatial clarity and reinforce the retail environment.

In addition, a dedicated acoustic strategy was developed to ensure an even and comfortable sound experience across the entire store. The audio system was carefully planned according to the scale and proportions of the space, contributing to a more pleasant and immersive customer journey.

Technical Integration

A key achievement of the project lies in the successful integration of architectural design and building systems. Rather than treating technical requirements as secondary components, the project incorporates them as part of a unified design solution.

This approach allowed the store to meet operational, safety, and performance standards while maintaining a strong and coherent visual identity.
